Opening of Tzukii by Hakii in City-Concorde

Since 2017, Hakii has been delighting the taste buds of sushi lovers in the Merl Belair district. Good news! A second address has just opened its doors on the 1st floor of the City-Concorde shopping centre (Bertrange).

Tzukii by Hakii aims to offer an even more gastronomic and creative culinary experience than its big brother.

“This opening was an opportunity!”

The idea of opening a 2nd address was not topical for the owners of Hakii, happy with they never empty restaurant. “It was City-Concorde who contacted us because they wanted to open a sushi restaurant and they absolutely wanted us to do it,” explains Dany Francisco, one of the partners. “By teaming up with Vincenzo Centrone for this opening, who knows City-Concorde and the world of shopping centers very well, we saw it as a great opportunity,” he adds.

Creative sushi all day long

Tzukii is open non-stop between 11.30am and 10pm. “We’ve only taken over 50% of the Hakii menu, with our classics of course” explains Dany. The rest is left to the creativity of the Brazilian-born chef who previously worked at Hakii, and who now has the time to prepare ‘gourmet’ sushis. “As the cuisine is open all day, the chef has plenty of time to prepare the fish in different ways and innovate in his recipes” explains Dany.

Japanese spirits and cocktails

“Once a month (on Fridays), the restaurant will be open until 1am and will be transformed into a bar,” he warns us. The drinks menu offers a large choice of spirits from the land of the rising sun. Fans of Japanese whiskies will love a glass of Nikka or Hibiki. As for gin, you can try Ki No Bi, a Kyoto gin with a yuzu flavour, or Roku, an artisanal gin with a natural flavour. A wide choice of rum is also available.

I went to discover the Tzukii menu for a lunch where, although I was seated alone, the smiling and pleasant service ensured that I had a great time. I chose the Chef Roll – Special Tzukii, 8 sushi dishes featuring salmon, eel, crab and prawn. The quality and expertise of the chef won me over. The squid ink rice is firm and tender, the fish tasty and the mix of flavours sometimes surprising but overall never disappointing.
