At just 24, Paul Guénot, a member of Chef Cyril Molard’s brigade at “Ma Langue Sourit” in Luxembourg, has won the “Le Taittinger” BELUX Culinary Prize.
Paul Guénot, 24, chef de partie in Chef Cyril Molard’s brigade at the two-starred “Ma Langue Sourit” restaurant in Luxembourg, has won the “Le Taittinger” Culinary Prize competition for the BELUX region. The competition, which aims to celebrate French cuisine and support the next generation of chefs, took place on 15 November in Antwerp, in the magnificent setting of the Botanic Sanctuary, a superbly renovated 15th-century monastery.
Shortlisted for his exceptional culinary creativity, Paul Guénot stood out for his mastery of fish and meat preparation, as well as for his ability to create a vegetarian cuisine inspired by local produce and Nordic cooking techniques. His creations for the “Le Taittinger” prize won over the jury of Michelin-starred chefs, including Nick Bril (The Jane, Antwerp), Giovanni Bruno (Senzanome, Brussels), and other top names in gastronomy.
Paul Guénot’s victory allows him to represent BELUX at the international final, which will pit the winners from 9 countries against each other in Paris next year. This achievement is all the more remarkable given that it is part of the prestigious history of the “Le Taittinger” Culinary Prize, which has been celebrating culinary excellence since 1967.
