Make (G)room please: a Luxembourg Gin World Awards Winner 2022

The GROOM, located in Schifflange, has been launched in July 2019 in Luxembourg and started his distillation of Gin and Rum in January 2020.

A fine distillation Made in Luxembourg

The GROOM Dry Gins are distilled to the finest degree, presenting a smooth and sweet taste experience. 10 specially selected seeds, spices and plants are blended together to create a dry 44% and 42% gin with distinctive notes of juniper berry and herbs.

Distilled in Luxembourg, GROOM gin combines traditional gin making with modern techniques in order to achieve its unique flavours. “Our Spirits have a light look with a dark taste which is enjoyable on its own or as part of a cocktail”.

GROOM’s founder, Adelio Silva, is passionate about the meticulous process behind this remarkable gin. He and his team closely monitor the distillation at every stage, feeling a renewed sense of enthusiasm and excitement each and every time.

As a Luxembourgish brand, they chose to represent Luxembourg on the packaging of their Gins with Luxembourgish monuments such as the Dudelange water tower on the 1928 Gin or the Huelen Zant (the hollow teeth) in the Grund on their Huel En Gin.

It’s not all about Gin!

They also recently launched the first Luxembourgish Rum, called Groom d’or, which uses locally planted sugar cane. “The distillation of our rum is inspired by recipes of more than 400 years old which have been passed down through generations” proudly explains the CEO.

The sugar cane is harvest, pressed and sprayed with water after each press for better extraction. The cane juice collected is filtered and then pumped into fermentation tanks. During fermentation the sugar present in the cane juice is transformed into alcohol. “This rum emulates that of Cape Verdean rum and is named as GROOM’s Grog blend.”

The young team recently won 2 prices at the World Gin Awards 2022 in the UK: Best Luxembourg’s Contemporary Gin with their 1928 and Best Botanical Gin with their Huel Gin. “For the Contemporary award, we were in competition with another Luxembourgish producer and we won the 1st place and Gold.”

They are also awaiting results in the competition as Best World Gin. Fingers crossed!
