Discovering Lisbon

Portugal’s capital is a place of contrasts. It’s fascinating how many different perspectives one city can offer.

On the banks of the Tagus River, an impressive monument — the Padrão dos Descobrimentos — recalls the Age of Discoveries. To this day, Lisbon remains a city of explorers for explorers, making it just right for me — as that’s exactly how I feel every time I arrive in a new city: like an explorer. We are here to shoot for the new Katharina Hovman summer collection 2023 — and I let myself drift through the city in search of unique locations. Once again, I think: What a privilege to be able to discover new cities in this way.

I am delighted if you are interested in my impressions and seeing the city through my eyes. Do not expect traditional sightseeing tips. You can find those in any travel guide. But what special things can be discovered in this charming city? I aim to provide some answers to this question. Lisbon has only 600,000 inhabitants, yet it embodies the atmosphere of a cosmopolitan metropolis. I noticed it immediately — this international flair, the many nationalities and languages, the hospitality, and openness. Moreover, almost everyone speaks English.
