Sumo x Tamar: When Street Art Meets Gin

On 3 July, Studio Taste in Limpertsberg played host to an unusual pairing: renowned street artist Sumo and local gin brand Tamar joined forces for a bold little project – ten repurposed jerrycans, each one hand-painted by Sumo and filled with Tamar’s signature gin.

At first glance, it might seem a bit offbeat – petrol containers as bottles? – but the idea works surprisingly well. Sumo’s vibrant, playful designs wrap around Tamar’s refined spirit, resulting in something that sits somewhere between an artwork, a collector’s item, and a drinks vessel. It’s not your typical product launch – more of a creative experiment that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

What makes the collaboration interesting is that both sides stay true to themselves. Sumo’s distinctive style remains front and centre, and Tamar’s gin isn’t dressed up or altered. Instead, their strengths complement each other – urban energy meets craftsmanship, without either being diluted.

And it’s not over yet: come September, 1.0 l and 1.5 l bottles featuring Sumo’s design will be released. Same spirit, different format – and another chance to get your hands on a piece of the project.
