Following a successful first edition in 2024, the AlimenTERRE Festival returns to Luxembourg for the second time, running from 16 October to 16 November 2025. This major international event is dedicated to global issues surrounding food and agriculture.
The opening will take place on 16 October – coinciding with World Food Day – with a ceremony at the Rotondes featuring the film “Monde agricole : la fracture de l’eau” (Agricultural World: The Water Divide).
An international initiative for global food reflection
Coordinated in Luxembourg by SOS Faim, the festival is part of a wider international movement already established in 17 countries across Europe, Africa and Latin America. Its aim is to encourage citizens to reflect on food sovereignty, sustainable agriculture and social justice.
The festival seeks to shed light on the interdependence and convergence of agricultural and food-related challenges on a global scale, empowering citizens to take action in favour of sustainable and fair food systems, and thereby contribute to the right to food – both locally and internationally.
Through a carefully curated selection of impactful films, debates, workshops and encounters, the festival strives to inspire change by promoting individual and collective action towards agri-food systems that respect human rights and the environment.
Luxembourg innovation: a corporate dimension
This festival is the result of a unique collaboration with numerous partners who organise screenings across the country for their members, the general public, local authorities, schools and more.
In Luxembourg, the festival stands out for its innovative approach of bringing the experience directly into companies, raising awareness among employees. This initiative is led by Marie-Béatrice Noble, Ambassador of the European Climate Pact:
“Sustainable food is a strategic lever, especially for companies seeking to make their catering services more responsible. But it’s also a deeply human issue that resonates with employees – touching on health, the environment, social justice and animal welfare. With the AlimenTERRE Festival, we create a rare moment in our busy lives: a chance to reflect together on essential challenges while sharing an engaging and inspiring experience.”
Eight films to feed our thoughts and actions
The full festival programme and screening schedule can be found on the festival website.
On 16 October, the French film “Monde agricole : la fracture de l’eau”, released in 2024 by directors Christophe Nick and Mischa Nick, will be shown. The documentary offers a historical and contemporary investigation, placing individual choices within the continuum of public policies since the early days of the Fifth Republic.
