Friendship – what does that actually mean? That’s the question Antoine and Ted, the founders of Are We Friends, often ask themselves. Especially when the two opinionated young entrepreneurs don’t always see eye to eye.
“We feel like we’ve known each other forever – we actually met in the Scouts – and we’re sometimes amazed that our friendship has lasted this long, given how often we disagree,” says Ted with a smile. But there’s one thing they never argue about: enjoying a good beer together.
A craft beer by friends, for friends
“We always dreamt of brewing our own beer. And now we’ve done it – alongside our day jobs,” explains Ted, who works as an accountant and handles administration for Are We Friends. Antoine, a freelance graphic designer, takes care of marketing and communications.
“We each have our own area of expertise. That’s our recipe for success,” the two friends agree.
That success is now poured into their flagship product: a refreshing pilsner that stands out among Luxembourg’s classic options, thanks to its light, fruity notes and easy drinkability.
The first batch was canned in June 2023 at the Twisted Cat microbrewery in Dudelange. Since then, more than 25,000 cans have been sold. “That’s way more than we ever expected,” says Ted.
Their beer is already stocked at bars like De Gudde Wëllen, Beim Renert, Bonne Nouvelle, and more than 15 other venues across Luxembourg. It’s also being served on tap at various festivals and private events. Home drinkers can order online with nationwide delivery.

Luxembourg’s first hard seltzer
In summer 2024, Antoine and Ted launched a second drink: ¿Somos Amigos?, the first hard seltzer made in Luxembourg. At 5.5% alcohol, it’s made with sparkling water and flavoured naturally with lemon or red berries.
“The idea was to create a product with mass appeal that wasn’t just another beer,” they explain.
Just over a year into their journey, Are We Friends is already expanding. “We’re now producing around 5,000 cans every two months,” says Ted. “And by the end of the year, we hope to release branded T-shirts and caps,” adds Antoine.
Their story is still unfolding – but one thing’s clear: when friends brew beer together (and enjoy it in moderation), it can bring people even closer.
