Slowly, with precise and practiced hand movements, the Beninese fisherman standing in his pirogue casts the casting net on Lake Nokoué. The success of this endeavor depends on the accuracy of folding the net, the skill of the throw, and the stealthiness of approaching. As the net is pulled down by its weight, it quickly sinks into the brackish water. The mesh is gathered together. The fish is caught in the trap. It wriggles and twists but soon lands in the boat.
