Creative workshops at Mudam

How about giving free rein to your artistic creativity, under the guidance of a professionals?

The “Art Freaks” workshops at Mudam are an excellent opportunity to learn about various artstyles such as goldsmithing, papercraft, botanical sketching and engaging photography.

Take part in a workshop on jewellery crafting with the jewellery artist Birgit Thalau, who will introduce you to a sand casting technique that has been used for centuries in industry, but also give insight into the overall craft, particularly goldsmithing.

In April, visit the “Papercraft” workshop with Steve Jakobs, professor at La Cambre in Brussels. Inspired by traditional Japanese hats, this workshop will allow you to create a headdress on which a white paper Eden unfolds.

In April and July, an experienced notebook artist and outdoor draughtsman will introduce you to the art of drawing in the open air. The aim of the course? To sketch the botanical species that can be found in the museum’s courtyard.

Finally, in the company of the photographer Carole Melchior, observe different urban and rural places in an engaging workshop. Rethink the landscapes in the broadest sense and reflect on the notions of territory and identity.

Under the guidance of Chantal Maquet, participants will also be able to study photographs to extract clues to determine the image’s specific period and answer the question of whether painting allows us to make time disappear.
