Delhaize launches its new SuperPlus loyalty programme and promotes a balanced diet with discounts on healthy products

Health is a key contemporary value. In response, Delhaize is launching a new loyalty program that supports both a more balanced diet and the purchasing power of its customers. Delhaize is making it clear that it is doing everything it can to support customers, regardless of their budget, in developing healthier eating habits for a balanced diet.

Although health and nutrition are becoming increasingly important thanks to active awareness campaigns in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, physical well-being and obesity remained serious concerns among adults and children. Nevertheless, it’s important to note that the Luxembourgish population is making great efforts to lead a better and healthier lifestyle, particularly by eating a more balanced diet. Delhaize wants to contribute to this effort towards a healthier society. Not only does Delhaize want to inspire its customers, but also to offer them very concrete solutions.

“Healthy eating is the choice of our customers. Making healthy food cheaper for everyone is ours,” says Delhaize.

The SuperPlus card, a new beginning

The launch of the new SuperPlus card marks the end of the Plus card, which has been in use at Delhaize for over 29 years. More than 80,000 active cards are currently in circulation in Luxembourg. With this evolution, Delhaize wants to provide a clear answer to the changing needs of its customers.

“The SuperPlus program is a new milestone in Delhaize’s history and can truly be considered as a loyalty card revolution. This new program is more than just a card: the customer will become part of a ‘loyalty club’ with additional benefits on several levels. With this new card, we are supporting the purchasing power of customers more than ever before, while helping them to achieve a balanced diet,” says Cédric Gonnet, Country Director Delhaize Luxembourg.

A loyalty card based on three pillars

Purchasing power: Access to better food can be limited due to concerns regarding the individuals purchasing power, and thus regularly comes second in the customer’s purchasing decisions. According to Delhaize, thanks to this new card, the customer’s overall purchasing power will be supported with lower prices, which can represent savings of up to 360 euros over a year.

Nutri-Boost: The more a customer chooses Delhaize for all of their purchases, the more the prices on products with a Nutri-Score A or B will be reduced. The discount on products with A or B Nutri-Scores will be based on the total amount of the previous month’s purchases of all products, regardless of their Nutri-Score. This mechanism highlights their ambitions to promote a healthy and balanced diet, encouraging customers to buy healthier alternatives whilst also rewarding them for their loyalty and overall purchases.

Promo-Boost: Card-holders receive even more generous promotions than those readily available at the store. If for example, a product is on promotion at the shop at -20%, club members could benefit from a larger discount of -30%.

New features

In addition to discounts for customers on products with a Nutri-Score A or B, the SuperPlus programme also offers new features.

  • Digitalised receipt: You will now be able to consult your receipt via the application.
  • Saving points: It will still be possible to save points, but the system is becoming more flexible, giving you alternatives to the traditional 500 points. Indeed, you will be able to benefit from interesting offers for even fewer points. You will be able to exchange your points for specific products whose value is often higher than the number of points, which makes the exchange even more interesting for you.
  • SuperPlus Credit: Find all your SuperPlus Credits at a glance, which will be deducted automatically from your next purchase.

The SuperPlus programme is available in a single application: Delhaize Luxembourg (Apple Store or Play Store).
