Delights from Street Food to Michelin-starred Cuisine

From the street food of Hawker Centres to Michelin-starred restaurants and rooftop cocktail bars in skyscrapers: The city-state of Singapore is worth a visit for its excellent cuisine alone. The multicultural metropolis also keeps an eye on the environment, focusing on local products and sustainability.

Lau Pa Sat, 8 pm, on a Friday evening. Bustling activity in this Hawker Centre, located not far from the New Financial District, one of Singapore’s financial centers. The queues in front of the numerous street food vendors are long: local, Chinese, Korean, or Vietnamese specialties are served in this Victorian-style food court. The air is filled with the scents of grilled food, hearty dishes, and sweet treats. The tables are fully occupied under the large fans bringing fresh air into the heavy city atmosphere. There is no table service. Everyone places their order and sits wherever they want … or can. The mood is lively and exuberant, reflecting a flourishing, carefree city-state.
