La Grocerie: new menu and new team (or almost)

Since January, François Dickes, the iconic owner of the wine bar “Vins Fins” and La Grocerie, is no longer part of the adventure. His partner, Servan Bernard, has taken over the helm. To mark the change, a new menu has been created, along with a little makeover for La Grocerie.

Goodbye pastrami, hello puccia sandwiches

The pastrami sandwiches, though divine, previously offered at La Grocerie are no longer on the menu. “We had to reinvent ourselves because the price of pastrami had become too high, and this either meant an exorbitant sandwich price or a loss for us,” Servan explains frankly.

With a new Italian chef on board, a new “puccia” sandwich menu was developed. These sandwiches are round in shape with a pizza dough base, and customers can choose between 2 vegetarian options, meat, or fish. The bread is prepared on-site by the cook in a pizza oven located next to the counter in the main room.

A small makeover

The fine grocery section has disappeared, creating more space in the main room for seating. Two wine fridges have also been installed. “They’re on wheels, so we can move them as needed, especially when we host private events or tastings,” Servan explains.

It’s still possible to stock up on charcuterie and cheese, with the deli counter remaining in place. The 100% natural wine cellar remains the main attraction for wine connoisseurs.

A lively address

With the arrival of nice weather, Servan expects a surge of regulars, especially for afterworks extending onto the narrow cobbled street, as well as tourists. “We hope to see many of them, especially from May onwards with the launch of the LUGA, which should attract people to the Grund,” he says. On Thursday evenings, tasting events are organized, “featuring a winemaker or a specific theme, like Chenin Blanc tonight, for example,” Servan tells us.

As for the wine bar “Vins Fins,” it remains unchanged. “Why change a recipe that works?” Servan confesses.

As for François Dickes? He informed us that he is currently working on a new project, “still in the restaurant business”. We, at Kachen, will make sure to keep you informed!
