The most eagerly awaited moment of the year for Luxembourg’s top chefs has finally arrived! The ceremony was highlighted by the awarding of a second star to young prodigy Louis Linster, as well as the first star for three other Luxembourg restaurants.
On Monday, April 28, the prestigious Guide Michelin Belux awards ceremony took place at the historic Handelsbeurs in Antwerp. In front of an audience of star chefs from Belgium and Luxembourg, as well as numerous industry professionals, the Michelin Guide unveiled the new 2025 Stars, Green Stars, Bib Gourmands, and other special awards.
Before the ceremony started, there was a moment of silence in memory of the recently deceased Dutch chef Jonnie Boer, who led the renowned three-star restaurant De Librije in Zwolle and was considered part of the undisputed elite of the global culinary scene.
Alex Verhoeve, the director of Michelin Belux, opened the ceremony with these words: ‘Gastronomy unites us, the table brings us together. Sitting down at a table has always been a wonderful way to connect.
A Second Two-Star Restaurant for Luxembourg
Louis Linster receives his second Michelin star. The son of renowned Luxembourg chef Léa Linster was recognized at the 2025 Michelin awards for his precise and modern cuisine. Following the complete renovation of the dining room, the restaurant Léa Linster in Frisange now offers an even more inviting setting — the perfect stage for a kitchen that has firmly entered the two-star league. Louis stepped onto the stage, visibly trembling, accompanied by his wife, who manages the front of house at the restaurant, and was soon joined by his mother, Léa Linster.“I am so proud – this is the most wonderful gift for my 70th birthday, and truly the greatest gift of all time!” she said, deeply moved.
Three Restaurants Awarded One Michelin Star
Grünewald Chef’s Table, led by Clovis Degrave, was finally awarded its first Michelin star. Offering modern French cuisine focused on exceptional ingredients and creative flavors, Degrave has established himself as a key figure in Luxembourg’s culinary scene since taking over the Hostellerie du Grünewald in 2017 – a success already recognized with the Gault&Millau “Young Chef of the Year 2024” award.

Unsurprisingly, given his widely acknowledged talent, plant-based cuisine pioneer René Mathieu regained a star for his new restaurant Fields in Cents. After relocating from La Distillerie, his mission remains the same: to offer outstanding plant-based cuisine in a setting that embodies simplicity, elegance, and sustainability, where the joy of discovery thrives in a nature-inspired atmosphere.

Archibald De Prince, former sous-chef to René Mathieu in Bourglinster, was awarded his first Michelin star just six months after opening his own restaurant, Archibald De Prince, in Echternach.
Described by the Michelin Guide as a “talented chef,” the Belgian appeared deeply moved on stage in Antwerp, accompanied by his wife Rachel De Prince, who co-manages their hotel-restaurant.
It was his mentor René Mathieu – himself receiving a new star – who had the honor of announcing Archibald’s award on stage: “He’s flying on his own wings now. I’m incredibly proud and happy,” he declared, visibly touched.

Green Stars
As no great surprise, chef René Mathieu, joined on stage by his son, once again received a Green Star for his restaurant Fields in Cents.
During the award presentation, the chef shared a hope for the future:
“I would love to see as many Green Stars as Red Stars one day – it would show that mindsets are truly changing!”
Bib Gourmand Awards
Unfortunately, no new Bib Gourmand awards were granted to Luxembourg establishments this year.
Thus, the recognition, which honours excellent cuisine at a fair price, remains with the following three restaurants:
- K Restaurant
- Bazaar
- Parc Le’h
