Official Opening of “La Cave de la Grocerie”

On November 14, 2024, the official opening of the “Cave de la Grocerie” will take place, a wine cellar dedicated to natural, organic, and biodynamic wines at the locavore grocery La Grocerie in Grund. This festive opening will be celebrated with many winemakers in attendance.

“La Grocerie is the flagship that oversees everything, especially the Cave, which we want to spotlight and celebrate with an official, festive opening,” explains François Dickes, founder of La Grocerie and owner of the adjoining wine bar, Vins Fins.

Located in the heart of Grund, La Grocerie has been serving customers for a year and a half. This farm-style grocery store offers a wide selection of local and organic products “whenever possible,” along with a deli section, “Dvistch-Delicatessen,” known for its signature pastrami sandwiches.

The Cave de la Grocerie: Over 250 Selections

The Cave de la Grocerie is a collaboration between François Dickes and Servan Bernard (“VinsFins and La Grocerie”), and wine importers, Eric Vantieghem (“Allwine”), Andras Skerkes (“Boromidd”), and Johan Tisserrant (“Vi(e)”).

Almost all the wines offered at the Cave are imported directly from winemakers. “We work with around 150 winemakers, primarily from countries bordering Luxembourg, though we also have a few bottles from Hungary, Greece, and Lebanon,” says François Dickes. The selection includes nearly 300 carefully curated bottles, chosen by specialized importers.

Weekly Meet the Winemaker

The Cave’s mission? To make natural, organic, and biodynamic wines more accessible so that more customers naturally add them to their shopping baskets.

Every Saturday afternoon, one wine is featured in-store. “It’s mainly a chance to open bottles and allow customers to taste natural and organic wines, which are often unfamiliar or misunderstood by the general public,” François explains.

A Festive Opening Evening

On Thursday, November 14, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the venue will be open to all for a chance to meet Luxembourgish winemakers, each with their mini-stand to showcase their cuvées. Notable attendees include Happy Duchy, Fru, Molling Wines, and Paul’s Winery.

It shall be a unique opportunity for wine lovers to learn more about natural wines in a welcoming atmosphere. “There will be surprises throughout the evening, and a DJ will also be present,” adds François Dickes.
