Origins wine bar and tapería is opening a 2nd location at Infinity Kirchberg. Same concept, same food menu than in Cloche d’Or, with a more extensive cocktails’ offer.
We spoke to Luis, one of the partners.
Origins has been operating in Cloche d’Or for 2 years now. How would you sum up your experience on the eve of this new opening?
We’re a bit remote in Cloche d’Or, but we’ve managed to build up a loyal customer base. The arrival of the tram in front of the restaurant has been a great help, as our footfall has increased since then. Our restaurant offer has also evolved, going from a simple wine bar with cold tapas to lunchtime specials, quiches and soups. We’ve also added pinsas (a type of pizza with a less gluten-rich dough, made from wheat and rice flour) to the menu, which is proving very popular.
Why did you decide to open a 2nd address?
As well as being a restaurateur, we also import Iberian products (wines, charcuterie). This opening is part of our desire to make the most of our incoming products. A new location will undoubtedly enable us to sell off our stocks more quickly.
What type of menu will you be offering?
The menu remains the same as at Cloche d’Or, because we are and remain a tapería (cold meats, cheese and hot and cold tapas), and wine experts. For technical reasons, hot dishes will be added to the menu within the next month only.
On the tapas side, there will of course be our platters of Iberian cheeses and cold meats, as well as the classic tapas such as pan con tomate, pimientos de Padron, tortillas and empanadas. At lunchtime, we keep our soup + quiche and dishes of the day formulas.
Can customers familiar with Origins expect anything new?
As with Cloche d’Or, Infinity will be primarily a wine bar featuring Spanish and Italian wines. But we’re also going to expand the cocktail menu to go beyond the classic cocktails and cater for all tastes (ndlr. we tried and loved the Gin Sour with lime and basilic and the Tequila infused with earl grey; both tasty and tangy). As we find mostly pub bars now at Infinity, this offer should appeal to customers. With a capacity of 50 seats inside. The venue also has a lovely terrace at the front.
