As summer settles in, terraces take centre stage across Luxembourg and beyond. Whether you’re after a romantic evening, a family outing, or simply a laid-back drink with friends, there’s no shortage of inviting spots to enjoy the sunshine. From historic viewpoints to riverside escapes and pop-up bars in the heart of nature, here’s our selection of must-visit places for making the most of the season.
For a drink with a view over the Grund: Mirador
Mirador, an eclectic bar in Luxembourg, charms with its superb terrace offering a breathtaking view over Pfaffenthal. Nestled within a historic building integrated into the old fortress wall, it reveals a spacious interior with varied atmospheres: a sandstone bar, Mediterranean-inspired décor, an upstairs nightclub-style area, and a fully equipped concert hall. Because drinks aren’t enough, street food is served.
For an aperitif with friends: Mikrokosmos
Tucked away in the heart of the city’s parks, just behind Avenue Emile Reuter, this trendy pop-up bar created by the team from De Gudde Wëllen is part of the LUGA initiative. It’s the perfect spot to sit down for a beer or a vintage LUGA crémant, as well as to enjoy a gourmet break thanks to their collaboration with Hostellerie Stafelter. Weekly events designed for all members of the family are also on the agenda.
For a romantic escape: Benoit & Claude, Domaine Goldbierg
Domaine Goldbierg isn’t easy to find! There are no signs along the road, yet a dirt track leads to one of the most beautiful terraces in the country. Endless rows of vines, wooden tables and string lights set the perfect scene. In your glass, you’ll find the estate’s own red, rosé or white wines, while the menu features cheese and charcuterie boards, empanadas and tarte flambées, all freshly prepared on site.

For a family-friendly drink: Pavillon Belval
This venue, opened during Esch2022, celebrates the history of the Bel-Val mineral spring with three wooden pods resembling lily pads floating on water. Its wooden terrace offers open views of the surrounding park and lets children play freely on the nearby playground while adults relax with a drink. Food can also be ordered such as pinsas.
For a relaxing break: Domaine Henri Ruppert
Perched on the Markusberg hillside, the terrace boasts a stunning view over the Moselle valley, with Germany visible across the river. The domain’s concrete building contrasts with the wooden terrace and its pool, ideal for soaking up the sun in peace. Naturally, you can sample Domaine Henri Ruppert’s wines, especially the Pinot Gris or Crémant (in moderation, of course), accompanied by a platter of local charcuterie. Prost!
