On 7 June, the Umisaqi group opened its first address in the city: Umi Bistro near Luxembourg station.
Umisaqi means quality products. With three ‘classic’ outlets already in Luxembourg, this up-and-coming sushi empire is now moving into town. After Differdange, Mersch and Remich, Umisaqi is now in Luxembourg, just opposite the station on rue Joseph Junck.
A public for every hour
This time, the traditional restaurant is a thing of the past: Umi Bistro offers something different, and will also be a bar. “We’re going to work all the time slots. At lunchtime, with all the administrative offices around, it will be more a business public. But we also want young people passing by to be able to have a little something to nibble on, like one of our sushi tacos and a drink. In the afternoon, there’s everything you need for a coffee, tea or beer, for a quiet break. And in the evening, of course, for dinner. We’re also going to give priority to deliveries, as this is one of our strong points in our restaurants”, explains a manager.
A very “Asian Food” street

And while the street already has a number of Asian brands (Bao8, Ramen Shifu, Saveurs Lao Viet…), we’re assured: “That’s not a problem, because we’re rounding out the offering.” In this way, all the Asian restaurateurs on the street get along. “We order from them and they order from us”, she agrees, when the Bao8 manager, as if to illustrate her point, enters the restaurant to choose his lunch.
Quality products
With its modern yet exotic decor, meticulous attention to detail, diligent service and attentive staff, Umisaqi’s approach remains unchanged. The friendly robot is even present to bring cocktails to your table. And the backdrop is quality. “We use beautiful, fresh produce and we have good suppliers. We can say that we offer a very high quality of sushi”.

Sushi at taco time
The menu at this Umi Bistro, which also offers Bofferding and Battin on draught, is virtually the same as that of its three other outlets. The only difference is that here, you absolutely must try the speciality of the place: the Sushi Tacos, a kind of Temaki sushi with a nori sheet that has been worked to be rigid and crunchy, reminiscent of a taco. The vegetarian version with asparagus and marinated tofu (photo) is well worth the way! Crisp and delicate, served in a little kawai box, you can enjoy them with light Rio Chinese alcopops, jasmine tea or lychee-flavoured water. And since the concept is also to set up at the bar, a cocktail menu is available for those who wish to accompany their new gastronomic find.
