The downtown of Arlon is revitalizing

General alert: for the past few months, the downtown area of Arlon, our Belgian neighbor, has been revitalizing with the opening of cafés, bars, and restaurants by young, motivated entrepreneurs. Here’s a rundown so you can’t say you didn’t know about it!

Cafés and restaurants: the newcomers

Green Coffee: Specialty coffee and vintage atmosphere

This young Belgian couple, turned baristas, has successfully created an ultra-welcoming atmosphere with a dark green and gold interior, and furniture entirely sourced from local flea markets. We love the warm, inviting vibe, perfect for a coffee break. In your cup, you can enjoy a specialty coffee from Jolt (Esch Belval).

Bloop: Cookies and specialty coffee

We’ve already told you the story of Caroline in our article Bloop Cookies, which you can find here. This café, open Wednesday to Sunday, has been serving delicious cookies since November. You can enjoy them on-site or take them to-go, along with a specialty coffee.

Vadrouille: a local and vegetarian canteen

Entering this canteen guarantees you’ll eat and drink well, all while being greeted by the smiling founders of Vadrouille in an irresistibly colorful, vintage decor. The love for local produce is evident in each dish, where local vegetables are highlighted. We also really enjoy the selection of Belgian craft beers to pair with your meal. Be sure to follow their Instagram account to stay updated on their special events, as they always have new ideas! Note: they host an all-you-can-eat brunch on the first Sunday of every month.

Gompel: the cocktail bar

Located in a building with an Art Nouveau façade that will immediately catch the eye of architecture lovers, this bar opened last summer and has been bustling ever since. The menu features expertly crafted cocktails, both classic and more innovative, depending on the bartender’s mood, all set in a modern decor.

Lifestyle: shops and events not to miss

Scenographyk: la vie en rose

Don’t miss this charming little pink shop packed with treasures for your home. Colorful posters, stationery, tableware, and small vintage furniture pieces, along with vintage clothing for women, men, and children. The owner greets you with a big, infectious smile. Located right across from Vadrouille, we can expect synergies between these two businesses!

Flea market: searching for the hidden gem

The streets of the old town and downtown come alive on the first Sunday of each month, from March to October, with numerous antique dealers setting up shop. It’s a lively atmosphere where you can find hidden gems, and it’s also the perfect opportunity to visit the city’s open restaurants and cafés.

Arlon Vintage Market: for vintage décor enthusiasts

200 square meters of treasures from another time: decor, furniture, and even clothing, making it the largest vintage market in Wallonia. Don’t miss the next edition, scheduled for June 2025.
