October is here, and with it comes the perfect excuse to think pink.
Every October, survivors and their supporters step out in pink to bring awareness to breast cancer, educating the public about detection methods and raising money for research and support for patients and survivors. Pink-ribbon campaigns have become an iconic symbol representing breast cancer awareness — a reminder of the fight we are all in together.
Pink Ribbons, Big Impact
This month isn’t just about ribbons — it is about action. Whether it’s wearing pink, donating to a cause, or simply taking the time to learn more about breast cancer, every little bit helps. And you don’t have to be a doctor or a scientist to make a difference; spreading the word is just as powerful.
Ways to Get Involved
If you are planning your October activities, here are a few light-hearted ways to make sure breast cancer awareness stays at the top of your list:
- Rock Your Pink: It’s like your wardrobe just got a reason to make an impact. Pink hair ties, scarves, jackets, socks, or even a whole outfit.
- Bake for a Cause: Bake some pink cupcakes or cookies (yes, the pink frosting is non-negotiable!) and host a little bake sale to raise funds for breast cancer research. You’ll have fun, eat sweet treats, and feel great about making a positive impact.
- Share Your Story: If you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer, sharing your story can help others feel seen and supported. It’s a powerful way to inspire others to stay positive and proactive with their health.

Oberweis, the classic Luxembourgish confectionery, is doing its part to spread awareness and raise money for this disease. In collaboration with organisation Think Pink, they have created an almond, raspberry short crust pastry, with a portion of the profits to be donated to Think Pink in support of breast cancer awareness and research. Dubbed the Pink Lady, this delicious pastry will be available in all Oberweis stores from 1 to 31 October.
Auchan is also supporting breast cancer research through donations of €1 for every pink product that is purchased in store or through Auchan-Drive. Special, pink-themed products are on sale as well this October, such as flower bouquets and macarons to advocate for the established initiatives.
Chocolaterie RG in Dudelange is representing breast cancer awareness through a pink interpretation of the Gëlle Fra, whose crown held high above her head, illustrating the triumph of breast cancer survivors, and the ongoing fight for patients.
Furthermore, century-old brand, Kaempff-Kohler, is selling two new pastries whose profits will be donated to Europa Donna. The collection of pink themed delicacies, including rose water macaroons and a Paris-Brest adorned with red fruits and violet, will be available in store this October.
Ma Langue Sourit, the two star Michelin star restaurant in Moutfort, has concocted a pink October cocktail, specialised to this pink-themed month.
For this October Rose, pâtisserie Namur has created a pistachio shortbread pastry with a raspberry compote, with 40 cents of each sale being donated to Europa Donna.
Knowledge is Power
Educating others is one of the main purposes of this month — regular screenings and self-checks can save lives. And the earlier the detection, the better the prognosis. It’s not a fun topic, but a little bit of knowledge can go a long way.
It’s not just about wearing your cutest pink sweater or rocking those pink socks you’ve been saving for the right occasion (though, if it makes you feel fabulous, go for it!). It’s about Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a time to get serious about a cause that impacts millions of lives, while also celebrating the strength, resilience, and community that come with it.
Let’s get loud, raise funds, and make some noise for those affected by breast cancer!
