Here’s the exciting news to close the year: the owners of the iconic Al Bacio on Rue Notre-Dame are launching a new concept: Tomi’s Italian Burgers, located at the site of the original Al Bacio. On the menu? Italian-style burgers crafted with great care.
Following the success of Al Bacio Bistro at the top of Rue Philippe II and the fairly new Al Bacio located further down the same street, Mino and Tonio – the inseparable duo of restaurateurs behind these establishments – are embarking on a new culinary adventure. Tomi’s, a fusion of their names, is the new downtown destination for 100% homemade burgers.
Simple décor for a cozy atmosphere
For those familiar with the old Al Bacio, the décor has seen only slight changes. “We repainted in beige for a more neutral look and removed the tablecloths, which didn’t make sense in a burger spot!” says Mino with a smile. A few subtle neon signs add a U.S.-inspired touch, and the rest is left to the customers. “We hanged wooden plates on the walls where guests can leave a note during their visit!” Mino explains with enthusiasm.
In the dining area, the waiter Marco is bustling around with a smile, serving tables and mixing signature cocktails like the Tomi’s, made with amaretto. Mino, always on the move, juggles his time between his three locations at lunchtime. Just like their other establishments, the vibe at Tomi’s is warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed lunch or a diner with friends.
100% homemade Italian burgers
“We did a lot of testing to perfect the recipes,” Mino shares. To achieve this, they partnered with an experienced chef who previously led the kitchen at Cat Club a few years ago. “We make 99% of everything in-house! Our patties – whether beef, chicken, or veal – are made fresh daily, and even our vegetarian patty is homemade, served with eggplant caviar,” he adds.
The bread itself is sourced from a carefully selected French baker. “We wanted a lighter, softer bun that wouldn’t overpower the other ingredients,” says Mino. The result? A perfectly balanced artisan bun that complements the flavors beautifully.
Each burger features an Italian twist: homemade red pesto, burrata, provolone cheese, and potatoes cooked in beef fat. For certain weekly specials, the bread is prepared in a focaccia style – an absolute delight or the patty is made out of Italian sausages.

A minimalist menu
With six burgers on the main menu and a weekly special, there’s something to please every palate. “Each burger has a specific recipe with its own sauce and accompaniments. We don’t just switch out the cheese or meat,” Mino clarifies.
A standout favorite is their seared tuna burger with red onion and preserved lemon, featuring melt-in-your-mouth tuna that pairs perfectly with the bun. For those craving more, the starters are a must-try, including their cacio e pepe steak tartare or truffle and parmesan arancini.

To accompany the burgers, there’s a selection of 12 beers, Italian wines handpicked by Mino, and cocktails crafted by Marco.
