Gëlle Fra Béier – Cheers to a whole century!

Gëlle Fra Béier — An exceptional anniversary beer celebrating 100 years of the Luxembourgish cult symbol, created by a talented brewmaster and immortalised in a unique design.

Luxembourg’s cult symbol, the “Gëlle Fra”, was created in 1923 by the renowned sculptor Claus Cito and celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. To mark the anniversary of what is probably the most important national symbol, an exceptional beer is being released by the design studio of Will Kreutz in collaboration with the brewery “Den Heischter”.

Stefan Schütz, the talented brewmaster of the “Heischter” brewery has crafted a “Strong Ale” type beer that perfectly captures the festive mood of the anniversary and fittingly celebrates the pride we take in our national monument.

With an alcohol content of 7.8%, this top-fermented beer presents itself in a beautiful yellow-amber colour with a strong, white head. The list of ingredients is both simple and promising: water, malt, sugar, hops, coriander and yeast. The right combination creates a full-bodied flavour with the right amount of malty sweetness and hoppy spiciness.

The celebratory beer is bottled in a 0.5 l bottle with an extravagant design inspired by the Art Deco school of the 1920s, which was fashionable during the inauguration year of the “Gëlle Fra”. Thus, the anniversary beer becomes a piece of living history, a pleasure that enlivens the senses and strengthens the memory of the symbolic spirit of our national monument, preserving it for future generations.

With that in mind: Cheers to the 100 years of Gëlle Fra!
