“Hideaways” Before Honking and Horn

Life pulsates in Ho Chi Minh City. The mopeds zoom through the streets of the metropolis in South Vietnam day and night. We introduce you to three places for a short city escape — by the Saigon River, in the highlands, and in the Golden Bay.

The economy is booming in Saigon, as the city of nearly ten million is still often called today and was the capital of Vietnam until 1975. Here in the south of the country, not only the economy is growing, increasingly organizing itself more privately. Around seven million two-wheelers, with an upward trend, roll through the center, loaded with entire families or bulky items like refrigerators, ladders, and gas cylinders. The honking vehicles shape the cityscape and the noise.
