Since February 1st, Rue du Curé has gained a new culinary destination: Odum has opened its doors in the former Wanderscheid catering workshop, offering African specialties.
Here, it’s all about discovery, with flavors from West Africa. Odum’s menu features recipes from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea, crafted by Chef Bogdan Ion. “I arrived in Luxembourg four years ago. I worked as a chef at Amore during its opening and at La Mezzanine du Boulevard,” says the Romanian chef who honed his skills in England “under great chefs like Italian Gennaro Contaldo, at Jamie Oliver’s and Raymond Blanc’s restaurants.”
Family Recipes…
His encounter with his business partner Kenneth Agu, of Nigerian origin, introduced him to African cuisine: “He and his wife Kate shared their family recipes with me and introduced me to the flavors of this region,” he explains. “On our menu, we have signature traditional dishes like Egusi soup (a beef and fish stew with crushed seeds of African pumpkin) and Asun (a spiced lamb dish), but also fusion European cuisine that combines African cooking with flavors more familiar here,” the chef adds.

…and Fusion Dishes
This fusion cuisine incorporates African style with a modern approach, offering the chance to discover African cuisine “step by step” for those who might be hesitant. Here, your fries might be made from sweet potato, plantain, or cassava, and the menu changes with the seasons. “We also add new specials about every two days…”
Warm Décor
The dining space features elegant and welcoming decoration, with straw and cane elements in warm brown, orange, black, and white tones, “from Nigeria.” “We even have a mancala, one of Africa’s oldest board games,” notes the chef.

A Name Rooted in Tradition
As for its name, Odum comes from Kenneth Agu’s roots. “Agu means tiger in Ibo (or Igbo), the language spoken in Nigeria. Odum means lion. My grandfather chose the name Agu because he protected his farm and family like a lion or tiger,” he explains. “You’ll see lion heads everywhere on traditional Ibo shirts.”
Rhythmic Evenings
And since Africa can’t be imagined without rhythm, to complete the atmosphere, the partners decided to regularly host musical evenings. This Friday, February 14, 2025, singer Hembaddoon will perform live for a special Valentine’s Day event.
