Are you in Knokke-Heist this summer? Then be sure to visit the exhibition pavilion Ravlingen. Until September 25, the Belgian cultural centre, as the only stop in the Benelux countries, is showcasing a major retrospective of the German-Australian photographer Helmut Newton. The exhibition named “Legacy” includes around 300 significant works of one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century.
The exhibition organised by Expo/Sure chronicles Newton’s life chronologically from his professional breakthrough in the 1950s to his tragic accidental death in 2004. Between iconic images and works unknown, forgotten, or surprising to the general public, the retrospective invites the viewer to discover the world of this photographer who significantly contributed to a rethink in photography in the last century.
