We would prefer to keep this place a secret. It’s like a beautiful dream you never want to wake up from. As if it would burst like a soap bubble if others discovered it. But this small hotel, created by Theresa Baumgärtner and her husband with so much love and passion, is simply too beautiful not to sneak into the dreams of its visitors.
Welcome to Hazelnut House, a guesthouse with a big heart that beats to the rhythm of the seasons.
“I had a dream …â€

The story of Hazelnut House began with a dream. A dream that Theresa, author of eight cookbooks and a freelance writer and TV presenter, had been nurturing for a long time. “I have always dreamed of a place like Hazelnut House, and I thought that someday, maybe in twenty years, I could make it happen!” she confides in us. And then everything happened very quickly. Sometimes, fate gives us opportunities that we must seize. And that’s exactly what Theresa did. She bought an old, dilapidated farmhouse in Girsterklause, where she already owned a house. The old farmhouse from 1850 was saved from decay by Theresa and her husband almost at the last minute. The restoration took fourteen months. In this tiny village in Müllerthal, next to only six other houses, stands Girsterklause, the oldest pilgrimage chapel in Luxembourg; otherwise, there is nothing here. Meadows, orchards, flowers, and bird songs define the idyllic village atmosphere. An intact, quiet nature that invites you to decelerate. With the famous Mullerthal Trail hiking paths running through the village, Hazelnut House is the ideal accommodation for those who like to shield themselves from the rest of the world during walks.
