- 100 grams rolled oats
- 500 ml milk
- 2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 30 grams unsalted butter
- 25 grams brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- A pinch of salt
- Optional toppings: chopped nuts, star anise, or additional cinnamon
Instructions
- Peel, core, and slice the apples.
- Melt butter in a medium-sized pan over medium heat.
- Add the sliced apples and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
- Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples, stirring to coat evenly.
- Continue cooking until apples are tender and caramelised (another 5-7 minutes), then set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, combine oats, milk, and a pinch of salt.
- Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until the oatmeal reaches your desired consistency (about 5-7 minutes).
- If needed, add more milk.
- Divide the cooked oatmeal into two bowls.
- Top each serving with the caramelised apple mixture.
- Garnish with additional cinnamon and optional toppings like chopped nuts or star anise.
- Serve warm.
