Luxembourg’s National Day is just around the corner and preparations are in full swing. A variety of exciting events and celebrations are already taking place on the eve of June 23. From alternative music festivals to exclusive club nights, we bring you the top 5 parties you shouldn’t miss!
National Day is Luxembourg’s biggest party of the year and takes place on 23 June in honour of the Grand Duke’s birthday. The festivities begin the evening before with the traditional changing of the guard at the Grand Ducal Palace and the following torchlight procession. At nightfall, just like every year, a big firework lights up the sky above the capital.
Throughout the night, an overwhelming number of concerts, parties and events take place, attracting thousands of people to the capital. We’ve put together a list of the most important events to make it easier for you to keep track of this year’s bank holidays and celebrate it in your own way!
- “FETNAT” by de Gudde Wellen – The “Gudde Wellen” is THE meeting spot among the alternative scene in Luxembourg. This year, the popular “culture-club” organises a free music festival with a diverse lineup of live music and DJ sets on the Place August Engel in the Grund. More info: De Gudde Wellen
- National Day Party @ Mesa Verde – The restaurant “Mesa Verde” is organising an open-air concert in the Rue du St. Esprit starting at 19:00, featuring various bands from all over the world. From 23:45, the party continues next door at Mesa Verde with various DJ sets. More info: Mesa Verde
- National Day @ Gotham – Luxembourg’s most popular nightclub opens its doors at midnight and promises an exclusive party experience. More info: Gotham
- L’art de & Lauter Unfug present: Authenticity @ Melusina – For fans of electronic dance music, “L’art de” and “Lauter Unfug” have something special up their sleeves at Melusina: “Authenticity” promises international house and techno DJs and blasting bass on 4 floors. - City Sounds – The City Sounds Festival is undoubtedly one of the top events. On the evening before as well as on National Day itself, a music festival will take place on the Glacis from 17:00, with both local and big international bands (including “THE SCRIPT” and “The 1975”) and DJs ensuring a wonderful moment.
