Kim Kevin De Dood will be the head chef of the restaurant at La Villa Pétrusse

The project has taken time, but it appears that Villa Pétrusse will be ready to open on April 1st, with a chef well-known to Luxembourgers heading its restaurant.

Villa Pétrusse, located on Avenue Marie-Thérèse in Luxembourg, has been undergoing restoration for five years. According to a press release, the upscale establishment is set to open next spring, on April 1. This luxury hotel will feature 22 rooms, including two suites and a private penthouse.

A Luxembourgish Chef

The gourmet restaurant, to be named Le Lys, has been entrusted to Luxembourg-born chef Kim Kevin De Dood (photo), who is returning to the country of his childhood. “After various experiences in Asia, where he earned two Michelin stars at Saint-Pierre in Singapore (under the guidance of Belgian chef Emmanuel Stroobant, editor’s note), he will showcase a cuisine rooted in Luxembourgish tradition with Asian influences, but above all, he aims to offer a global and unforgettable experience. Villa Pétrusse aspires to become a must-visit culinary destination in Luxembourg,” the press release states. The 33-year-old chef, who led the restaurant of the Luxembourg Pavilion during Expo 2020 in Dubai, was also both a student and a teacher at the EHTL hospitality school.

A Quality Restoration

Villa Baldauff, built at the end of the 19th century on the banks of the Pétrusse River, is now home to Villa Pétrusse. Lorraine-based interior designer Tristan Auer (photo) drew inspiration from the spirit of the location, offering a faithful restoration of certain historic elements. “Architectural details, hand-painted wallpapers, monumental fireplaces, frescoes, and stained glass… The like-for-like restoration carried out by local artisans goes hand in hand with the integration of all the essential modern standards of sustainability, responsibility, and safety (…). Despite its sometimes grandiose proportions, Villa Pétrusse has retained the atmosphere of a luxurious private residence of the past, offering the feeling of being at home, welcomed with all the warmth and attentiveness one could wish for,” the press release further details.
