Ingredients

  • 750 ml pomegranate juice
  • 500 ml water
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave syrup
  • 1 clove
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 2 cm ginger, sliced
  • 4 tbsp pomegranate seeds

Instructions

  1. Put the pomegranate juice and water into a large pan and bring to a simmer.
  2. Stir in the spices and the honey. Simmer on a low heat for 20 minutes. Taste for sweetness and add more honey or agave syrup if desired.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and take out the spices. Add fresh pomegranate seeds and serve hot.
