Located north of the bustling city of Kuta, but in the same bay, the once sleepy fishing village of Canggu has evolved into a hotspot in recent years, attracting digital nomads, sprouting yoga studios and eclectic restaurants, and drawing surfers from around the world with high waves. Yet, the place has preserved its authenticity.
It seems that all tourists arriving in Bali head straight to Canggu with its 8-kilometre-long beaches lined with rice fields and Hindu temples. Here, Balinese people live side by side with expatriates, creating a colourful mix of different cultures and lifestyles.
