Usedom, Island of Light

On the Baltic Sea island of Usedom, the sun is a permanent guest. It shines on white, fine sandy beaches, thatched houses, reed-fringed lakes, dreamy villages, old amber and imperial baths, as well as the longest beach promenade in Europe for two thousand hours a year. And now it can be reached in a direct flight from Luxembourg. That is simply too tempting.

Eyes closed, just listening to the surf. Feeling the warm wind caressing your hair and the sea kissing your feet. How the water flows around and massages them while standing on this unbelievably fine white sandy beach. Then open your eyes again and follow the seagulls as they circle expectantly in front of a radiant sky.

I stand on the seventy-meter-wide sandy beach in Ahlbeck and think about how dreamy and at the same time sophisticated this jewel of an island presents itself. Picturesquely located between the Baltic Sea, Achterwasser, and Stettiner Haff. Forty-two kilometers of sandy beaches, lots of untouched nature, and plenty of sunshine.
