The Cradle of Ceylon Tea: In the Highlands of Sri Lanka

Marco Polo once dubbed Sri Lanka as the “most beautiful island in the world.” Centuries later, this statement still rings true. The pearl in the Indian Ocean enchants with roaring waterfalls, lush green tea plantations, and a picturesque train journey.

I am confused. While the lady at the reception explains that she can help me with getting the train tickets, she shakes her head slightly, but noticeably. I cannot interpret the discrepancy between nonverbal communication and what I hear and ask for clarification. As she affirms again, her head continues to shake, as if held by an invisible thread that is repeatedly loosened by an unseen hand.
