What’s happening on National Day 2025?

On the evening of 22 June and throughout 23 June, Luxembourg celebrates its National Day with a packed programme of official ceremonies, concerts, and public festivities. Here’s a curated overview of this year’s highlights:

Luxembourg City

The Eve — 22 June

• Torchlight Parade and Fireworks
The traditional torchlight procession will pass through the city centre in the evening. A spectacular firework display over the Adolphe Bridge, synchronised with music, will close the night in style.

• City Sounds Festival
One of the main attractions: a free open-air music festival on the Glacis Square, held on both 22 and 23 June from 5:00 p.m. Headliners for 2025 include Train, Florence + The Machine, Dimitri Vegas, Klingande, BJones and Oliver Heldens.

National Day — 23 June

• Official Ceremony at the Philharmonie
The formal ceremony begins at 9:45 a.m. in the Philharmonie, with the Grand Ducal Family in attendance. Places are limited and registration is required in advance.

• 21-Gun Salute & Military Parade
A 21-gun salute will be held around 11:15 a.m. at Fetschenhof, followed by the grand military parade on Avenue de la Liberté starting at 12:15 p.m.

• Te Deum at the Cathedral
The traditional Te Deum mass will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Notre-Dame Cathedral, with dignitaries and representatives from public life.

• Spillfest — Play Festival
From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Kinnekswiss in the municipal park transforms into a massive playground, featuring over 100 activities and creative workshops for children and families — all free of charge.

• City Sounds Continues
The open-air concerts on the Glacis resume from 5:00 p.m. until around 11:30 p.m., closing the festivities with a vibrant musical line-up.

Across the Country

• Esch-sur-Alzette
The country’s second-largest city hosts a full day of live music, food, and celebrations on the main square.

• Diekirch
Diekirch maintains its National Day tradition with a Te Deum, civil ceremony, and speech by the mayor between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception.

• Grand Ducal Visits
On 22 June, members of the Grand Ducal Family make official visits to towns outside the capital — details are typically announced in early June.

Special Highlight

• Silver Jubilee Concerts
In honour of Grand Duke Henri’s 25 years on the throne, a series of jubilee concerts will take place on 21 and 22 June on Place Guillaume II and other locations. Highlights include Dee Dee Bridgewater and Gast Waltzing, as well as a sound-and-light show at the Grand Ducal Palace.

• Fête de la Musique
From 13 to 21 June, more than 250 free concerts will be held across the country, creating the perfect lead-up to National Day.

Free public transport is available as usual, with special timetables and night buses running on both 22 and 23 June.
