The Luxembourg School of Hospitality and Tourism (EHTL) played host to an exclusive truffle luncheon on the 27th of November, orchestrated by the Italian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (CCIL). The intimate gathering of sixteen guests included the newly appointed Italian Ambassador H.E. Carmine Robustelli, CCIL President Fabio Morvili, and EHTL Director Michel Lanners. Among the distinguished guests were Bibi Wintersdorf, founder of Luxe Taste & Style and publisher of KACHEN Magazine, accompanied by her Italian-born husband and business partner Maurizio Maffei.
Under the expert guidance of Chef Laurent Antoine, final-year hospitality students from class DP3RE1 crafted an exquisite four-course menu: delicate celery tortelli with Parma ham opened the proceedings, followed by gnocchi with aged Comté. The main course featured meltingly tender Peter’s Farm veal shoulder with foie gras, while a sublime dessert of single-origin dark chocolate with caramelised hazelnuts provided a fitting finale. Each course was perfectly complemented by wines from Luxembourg’s prestigious Alice Hartmann estate.

The luncheon marked the launch of a special truffle exhibition, conceived in partnership with the Italian Embassy. Dr Aziza Boukha, Head of Nutrition Research at EHTL, guided guests through this fascinating showcase, which runs for two weeks. Through interactive displays and virtual reality experiences, visitors are immersed in the world of these ‘black diamonds’. The exhibition explores every aspect of this culinary treasure – from traditional truffle hunting to the nine varieties native to Italy, alongside authentic product identification.

This celebration of Italian gastronomy not only enriches the curriculum of EHTL, a UNESCO associated school, but also showcases the excellence of Luxembourg’s culinary education programme.
