Bridal Tradition between Enjoyment and Beer Bath

In Pilsen, one can not only learn everything worth knowing about the production of the famous beer from the former Bohemian royal city but also relax by bathing in barley juice and dive tipsily into the underworld.

Pastel-coloured houses with magnificent gables dominate the cityscape in the city centre of Plzeň, as Pilsen is called in Czech. One would actually have to stroll through the cobblestone-paved old town like a daydreamer to not overlook the many loving details on the house facades. Everywhere, there are small embellishments, pretty statues, and mosaics to admire. Especially around the Republic Square, the NámÄ›stí Republiky. On the 139 by 193-metre marketplace stands the St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral, which can boast of having the tallest church tower in the Czech Republic at 102.6 metres. The flagship square in Europe’s Capital of Culture in 2015 is lined with the 1559 town hall, the historic Imperial House, and the gilded plague column from 1681.
