Ingredients

  • 2 tsp Assam or Ceylon black tea (loose)
  • 3 whole green cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 piece star anise
  • 500 ml milk
  • 500 ml water
  • honey (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Brew all the spices in the water until it boils. Simmer on low heat for several minutes (the smell of the spices will be a good indicator).
  2. Add the milk and tea. Simmer for two minutes. Turn off the heat, cover and wait a few moments.
  3. Pour into cups with a sieve.
  4. Add honey to taste.

 

Notes

Note: You can find chai spice mixtures in the shops (choose the mixtures without sugar, only the spices). In this case, add one teaspoon of the mixture for every 4 cups.
