Despite the still present, encrusted traces of its industrial past, the English city of Manchester has much more to offer than just football.

Simply mentioning the name Manchester automatically brings football to mind for many. Indeed, the former hub of the British textile industry is home to two top European clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City. The latter, in particular, is the reigning English champion, cup winner, and Champions League victor, arguably the best club team on the continent, maybe even the globe. However, the 550,000-soul community in the northwest of England has much more to offer than just the fascination for the round object that must go into the net. Manchester cannot and does not want to deny its industrial past.
