You won’t be able to miss the “Twinz” sign in the Laangwiss 1 shopping area in Junglinster. Located right next to the entrance of Delhaize, this restaurant is the brainchild of chef Christian Thoma and his twinsister Nadja – known for his restaurant Bei den Zwillingen at the Junglinster golf course. On the menu: homemade burgers served in a simple, friendly setting.
A tried-and-tested concept
Opening a second venue wasn’t necessarily part of Chef Thoma’s plan. “It was more a case of the opportunity giving rise to the project. We had already tested a similar concept in Echternach, under the same name, but had to shut it down purely due to the location being hard to access. The Laangwiss site is ideal: close to all amenities, busy, and easy to manage,” he tells us. And so, the Twinz story (re)began.
After a makeover to give the place a bit of a US diner vibe – with black quilted leather booths, wicker-back chairs, and a simple décor in shades of green “reflecting our new visual identity” (see our article on that here) – Twinz officially opened its doors in June, much to the delight of Junglinster locals and workers.
“We get just as many customers at lunchtime as we do in the evening, which is perfect for us. In the evening, the flow of guests is spread out over a few hours, with plenty of takeaway orders, whereas lunchtime sees a concentrated rush over a two-hour period.” With a student menu priced at €10, Christian Thoma hopes to win over young people with a good-quality burger made from Luxembourgish beef.

Simplicity and flavour
The menu is intentionally limited, offering a choice of eight burgers to suit all tastes – from classic cheeseburgers and bacon burgers to a chicken burger, as well as the “Madagascar” burger with a homemade green pepper and paprika sauce. Classic burgers are served in a brioche bun, while the Madagascar comes in a rustic round loaf. To cater to all preferences, a vegetarian option is also available. “Since we opened, all the burgers have been popular – none of them really steals the spotlight,” admits Christian Thoma.
Naturally, menu updates are planned for the coming months. “We’ll probably introduce more autumn- and winter-style burgers, and maybe even Gromperekichelcher.”
Twinz adds to the already diverse culinary scene in Junglinster.
