Find below the best Christmas markets in the country and the Greater Region.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>LUXEMBOURG<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christmas market in the capital of the Grand Duchy will be in all its finery from Friday 22 November 2024 until Wednesday 1st January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme includes gift ideas, of course, but also Gl\u00fchw\u00e4in and other seasonal drinks, hamburgers, Gromperekichelcher, soups, Grillwurscht, waffles, churros, crepes, pretzels, raclettes, tartiflettes, curry wurst, sp\u00e4tzle\u2026 as well as concerts and entertainment for young and old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Luxembourg-City<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In the city centre, 4 must-see locations will be open from 22 November.<br>Opening times: Sunday to Thursday from 11 am to 9 pm and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm.<br>Sunday 24 December from 11 am to 6 pm. Closed on the 25th December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Place d&#8217;Armes&nbsp;:<\/strong> the L\u00ebtzebuerger Chr\u00ebschtmaart. Under the 14-metre-high Christmas tree, 37 Christmas stalls will be selling gift ideas as well as a wide range of gourmet treats. There will also be a giant nativity scene and an adorable carousel.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Place de la Constitution&nbsp;:<\/strong> the Wantermaart. At the foot of the G\u00eblle Fra, you&#8217;ll find 41 charming chalets, games and funfair rides for the kids, and a multitude of stalls offering drinks and seasonal culinary specialities. And don&#8217;t forget to take a ride on the Ferris wheel and see the whole town illuminated, or take a photo at the foot of the 13-metre-high golden Christmas tree!<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Place de Paris&nbsp;: <\/strong>the Niklosmaart. In addition to traditional winter fare, this is where you&#8217;ll find a huge selection of handcrafted Advent wreaths, decorative items and a carousel for children. All under a huge 22-metre-high fir tree with 285,000 LED lights! On 23, 24, 26, 28 and 30 November, Saint Nicolas (from Kleeschen) will be coming to meet young and old alike, from 3 pm to 5 pm.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kinnekswiss&nbsp;: <\/strong>the Wanterpark. Located right in the heart of the municipal park, the ice rink, surrounded by 5 gourmet Christmas huts, will welcome young and old alike from 11 am to 8 pm (9 pm on the weekends), to the sound of the DJs who will be performing from Tuesday to Saturday from 6 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And from 7 to 29 December<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>On the place Guillaume II&nbsp;:<\/strong> &#8220;Winterkids&#8221;, with lots of activities for children (aged 3 and over) including creative workshops, readings and plays. Tuesday to Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Esch-sur-Alzette<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The market in the city center will be open from Friday 29 November until Sunday 22 December. There will also be an ice rink and concerts for a festive Christmas atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday to Sunday from 2 pm to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday until 10 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dudelange<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The traditional Christmas market on Place de l&#8217;H\u00f4tel de Ville will be open from 6 to 15 December, with over 60 stalls and chalets. The medieval part of the Christmas market, on Place Kinnen, will provide an authentic atmosphere with its campfire and traditional medieval dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winter market on Place Am Duerf will be open from 23 November to 15 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday to Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm, Friday from 4 pm to 9 pm, Saturday from 12 pm to 9 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 8 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steinfort<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 30 wooden chalets, the 23rd Steinfort Christmas Market opens its doors on 6 December for two weekends of enchantment. In the park between the town hall and the Villa Collart, visitors will be able to sample a wide range of culinary delights, including Gromperekichelcher, tartiflette, Sp\u00e4tzle, apple fritters, waffles, Stockbrot and much more, offered by local associations. There will also be gift ideas from craftspeople, workshops and wooden games for children, a merry-go-round and even a horse-drawn carriage. The whole event will be enlivened by a variety of concerts, choirs and music groups. You&#8217;ll also be able to buy your own Nordmann tree while the kids take a free ride on the carousel! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fridays from 3 pm to 9 pm, Saturdays from 12 pm to 9 pm and Sundays from 12 pm to 8 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>GERMANY<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kachen.lu\/43rd-trier-christmas-market-a-unique-romantic-atmosphere-in-the-heart-of-the-city\/\">Trier<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The famous German Christmas market opens its doors on Friday 22 November and runs until Sunday 22 December. Experience the atmosphere of Christmas in the streets of the city between the medieval Place du March\u00e9 and the forecourt of the impressive St Peter&#8217;s Cathedral. You&#8217;ll find food and drink stalls, entertainment and Christmas shopping. Don&#8217;t forget to try a Winzergl\u00fchwein, a real mulled wine from the Moselle winegrowers, or a Gl\u00fchviez, a mulled cider made from apple trees in the Eifel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday to Thursday from 10.30 am to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 8 pm. Each year, Saarbr\u00fccken welcomes over 2 million visitors to its Christmas market. The programme for this major event includes culinary specialities, of course, but also an ice rink and a Ferris wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>BELGIUM<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Durbuy<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>From Friday 22 November to Sunday 5 January, the Place aux Foires in the self-proclaimed <em>&#8220;smallest town in the world&#8221;<\/em> will be the setting for the Christmas market, with its magical illuminations and arts and crafts to make the hearts of young and old sparkle. And don&#8217;t forget to try the famous <em>&#8220;patates au foie gras&#8221;<\/em>! There will also be an ice rink. It&#8217;s a great opportunity to explore the town and its old cobbled streets and ramparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Li\u00e8ge<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Belgium&#8217;s oldest Christmas market is less than two hours&#8217; drive from Luxembourg, in Li\u00e8ge. From 29 November to 5 January the Li\u00e8ge Christmas Village will be hosting almost 300 craftsmen and a variety of attractions! The market has 150 chalets dedicated to gifts and gastronomy, as well as an ice rink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"> <strong>FRANCE<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strasbourg<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Head to Strasbourg in Alsace, THE capital of Christmas, to spend a weekend discovering the biggest and certainly the most magical and traditional Christmas market in France! From 27 November to 27 December, the theme of this Christmas market is &#8220;Le temps de s&#8217;\u00e9merveiller&#8221;. With over 300 stands and a huge Christmas tree on the famous Place Kl\u00e9ber, this market is definitely worth a visit. Nearly 2.8 million visitors flocked to the market last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Metz<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Just awarded 3rd best Christmas market in Europe, Metz is the destination to celebrate Christmas! From 22 November to 30 December, the city of Metz won&#8217;t be missing out on the Christmas festivities, with markets set up in five locations around the city: Place Saint-Louis, Place Saint-Jacques, Place de la R\u00e9publique, Place de la Com\u00e9die and Place d&#8217;Armes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll find some 120 chalets, as well as the traditional Ferris wheel, the Christmas pyramid, the giant Christmas tree and its nativity scene, several amusement rides, and the not-to-be-missed Lantern Trail.
